Before You Go

  • Plan how you're getting home before you leave — don't decide at 2am
  • Tell someone outside your group roughly where you'll be and when you're due home
  • Charge your phone and bring a portable charger if you can
  • Check the event's welfare or first aid tent location when you arrive
  • Agree on a meeting point with your group in case anyone gets separated

Look After Each Other

  • Check in on each other through the night — a quick "you good?" matters
  • Drink water regularly and take breaks somewhere cool
  • Pace yourselves and know it's okay to sit a song out
  • If a mate seems off, stay with them — you know them better than a stranger will
  • Look out for people who seem to be alone or in distress, not just your own group

Know the Warning Signs

Get help straight away if someone is unresponsive, having trouble breathing, having a seizure, or can't be woken. Don't wait to see if it passes — call 000. You won't get in trouble for calling an ambulance to help a mate.

Getting Home Safely

  • Stick to your plan for getting home, or book a ride before you're exhausted
  • Don't let a mate leave alone if they seem unwell, upset, or unsteady
  • Keep enough charge on your phone to call a ride or a friend
  • If something feels wrong on the way home, it's always okay to ask venue or event staff for help
